trees & circles....

Thu Apr 20, 2006, 10:38 AM
at first i was diggin some stuff i was seeing.. but then i noticed that there seems to be a dozen or so vector artists doing all the same type of work.. black trees with lots in concentrically set circles in bright vivid colors.

gotta love trendy followers... even in art. copying someone else's style and calling it your own. and its too bad, cause i really dug some of the pieces i saw but i have no idea whose creativity to appreciate. Now that is not to say it is BAD to be influenced by someone else's work. NO one is an island and any artist is going to be influenced in some manner. At the same time though I am not going to post drawings that i have done in the style of Schiele, or paintings like KJ Marshall... the reasoning of course is because i am taking something from someone else and that means it is not my own. its also call plagarism not to mention really really weak.

:stupid:

If you like something you see so much, try to understand what it is that intices you. Make some studies, test out new techniques. but when you do your work, it should still resemble YOUR work, and not completely morphed into someone else's altogether.

just my two cents.
